Independent Family Medicine — Charlotte, North Carolina, Since 2014
Dr. Caleb Lawrence spent over a decade practicing family medicine inside a large regional health system before founding Olentangy Family Health in 2014. He had watched appointment times shrink, panels grow, and the relationship between doctor and patient become an afterthought to volume and billing codes.
So he left, and started over — with a single exam room, a small team, and a conviction that family medicine works best when a physician actually knows the person sitting across from them. Twenty years of clinical experience later, that conviction is still the foundation of every visit at all three of our locations.
What began as one physician and a handful of patients has grown into a 62-person independent practice, still guided by the same principle: continuity of care, not volume of visits.
“We founded this practice because we believe family medicine should mean knowing your patients across years and decades — not just across a single appointment.”
You see physicians who already know your history, your family, and your goals — visit after visit, year after year.
Same-day sick visits, telehealth, and three locations across greater Charlotte mean care is never far away.
We treat the person, not just the diagnosis — considering family, lifestyle, and long-term wellbeing in every plan.

20+ Years of Clinical Experience
Dr. Lawrence trained at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at MetroHealth, where he first saw how fragmented care could become inside a large system. After more than ten years practicing within that system, he set out to build a different kind of practice — one where physicians spend real time with patients and manage care across a lifetime rather than a single visit.
He founded Olentangy Family Health in 2014 with a small team and a clear philosophy: independence gives physicians the freedom to make decisions based on what's right for the patient, not what's efficient for a health system. That philosophy now guides a 62-person team across three Charlotte-area locations.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Lawrence continues to see patients personally at the Charlotte location and remains actively involved in mentoring the practice's newer physicians in relationship-centered care.
We are not owned by a hospital system or private equity group. Every clinical decision is made by your physician, guided by what's right for you.
We intentionally keep our panels manageable so your physician can actually remember your history — not read it off a screen for the first time.
Same-day appointments, telehealth visits, and three locations mean care fits into your life, not the other way around.
Board-certified physicians, evidence-based care, and a 98% patient satisfaction rate reflect a standard we hold ourselves to at every visit.
We're welcoming new patients at all three Charlotte-area locations.
